Couple years ago, I'd agree. I think Shaq has woken up post basketball. Seems collected, calm and generally knowledgeable speaking and illustrating points about basketball on the TNT program. I'm sure he'd do no worse with the role, plus he'd probably be cheaper and have a short leash.

Have to wonder if he would just be a figurehead and real number crunchers would be behind him. If I had a team, I'd want guys who were scouting overseas and workin numbers who could get me good players at 7-10 on my bench. Spurs best Mgt in hoops?

Why? There are a lot of Gm's in the NBA that are former players.

But I personally wouldn't want to be an NBA GM. Those guys look miserable every time the camera points them out during a game.

Early on in the season, back when the Golden State Warriors were feeling like fouling big men endlessly was the only way to play defense, Dwight Howard ended up attempting 39 free throws, tying Shaq's record for most free-throw attempts in a game.

Amid the arguments about Shaq being a poor free-throw shooter, we find out that Shaq made 18 of those 39 free throws back in 2000, to which Shaq responded, "At least it's over 50 percent."

For those of you scoring at home, 18 made free throws out of 39 would be 46 percent, or just under 50 percent.
Thankfully, as Charles looked on incredulously, Shaq figured things out for himself: "18 plus 18 is 36, and I went 18 for 39. Oh yeah, you're right." Hilarity ensued.
