Its the start of the Jewith New Year. Jewish folks start a fast at sundown tonight, and it goes to sundown tomorrow.

Sandy Koufax in 1965 would say no:

Green, Koufax and Greenberg -- same dilemma, different decisions
          By Jeff Merron
          Special to ESPN.com

In 1965, Sandy Koufax refused to pitch in Game One of the World Series because it was Yom Kippur, a Jewish holy day. Instead of Koufax, Don Drysdale pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he gave up seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. "I bet right now you wish I was Jewish, too," Drysdale said to Walter Alston when the manager came to pull him from the game. The Dodgers lost to the Minnesota Twins, 8-2.

It must be slicky. With the percentage of Jews in the world currently being at 0.1% I can't see no reason of all sports being halted for a jewish holiday.

I'm just as confused as you are Paver.

Maybe JJ could shed some light....Think he may be Jewish come to think.

The answer is no. MLB's schedule had nothing to do with the Jewish calendar.

What else are you looking for? It's not a light card except that MLB has an off day.

The New Year started last week actually.

They are only 0.1% of the population, but they control 99.9% of everything.

Of course sports events are being halted today for the Jews.

If we all joined their club (Judaism) we too could be all powerful.

I'm considering converting from Atheism to Judaism.

No not at all. It is because both AL series finished early.

No football. No hockey. What do we have left, preseason basketball & soccer?
