Do bosses usually know when your birthday is? will they fire you for this?

i'm scheduled to work a double shift 17 hours on my birthday this week and that sounds awful. But I think if I call in sick I might get fired.

just tuff it out and work bud.

go out and party or whatever after or the night before.

its not like u calling in sick and laying in bed all day is gonna be a fun birthday anyway.. if ur life was all that full of fun the bday wouldnt even be that important as u live it up nightly/weekends/every week..etc

imo goto work make some money.. in the long run u wont ruin ur job and u will get some extra cash for that double.. 17 hrs even at a 8$ an hr job is 130$ to burn later on one heck of a bar night!

If you're over 25, your birthdays don't matter. I'm about two years away from flat out forgetting it, just waking up and saying 'Shit, was my birthday yesterday?'

anyone who calls in on their birthday, day after a holiday, or monday/friday is completely BSing, and it's pretty obvious.

I'll only call in on Tues-Thurs.

If your goal is to act like a 14 year old girl and not make money I'd call in sick

Everybody gets their birthdays off where I work. No need to call in sick.

Having to call into work to get the day off should be a big hint you are probably past the point where you have much worth celebrating...
