If I were in Eduardo's position, I'd do the same thing. It seems like a liability to hold US citizenship if you are wealthy.

Reverse this situation... And this happens all the time

an illegal in the USA with no money or Ins becomes gravely ill or is injured. Hospital & doc bills are in the high 5 figures (60-75K). he gets better and is ready to leave the USA and go back home but then...

a US Senator says , "We aren't going to let him get away with it."

We must detain him until we receive reimbursement from him or his family for the bills <---- can you imagine the 'outrage' from Dems

You'd think Schumer would be more focused on his decades long frien John Corzine who directly stole Billions from MF Global....but that's okay because he was a Dem his entire political career.

Mayan... it is what it is

U.S. taxpayers spend tens of billions of dollars annually to provide free medical care for illegal immigrants with states that border Mexico taking the biggest hit. The expense has become so unbearable in California—long an illegal alien sanctuary—that several municipalities eliminated the perk this year to save tens of millions of dollars in the midst of the state’s dire financial crisis.

Adding to the problem is the fact that Mexico, the country that provides the largest amount of illegal immigrants in the U.S., has long promoted America’s generous public health centers. It even operates a Spanish-language program (Ventanillas de Salud, Health Windows) in about a dozen U.S. cities that refers its nationals—living in the country illegally—to clinics where they can get free medical care without being turned over to immigration authorities.

Illegals are here for a reason, TO WORK....Contractors/farmers/businesses pay shit wages/no taxes on illegals and pass their expenses on to you..

Maybe you should start blaming the neo con business owners that employ them..

They believe 'Tax Break' is cheating the Govt and giving someone ill-gotten gain... Rarely does it cross their minds the $$$ belongs to that someone from the get go

Point 1) We need to use illegals busting their ass for nothing (we built this nation of slave labor, we made it better with war labor, now we need to maintain with cheap labor).

Point 2) Tax his ass, if he used the support of the laws in this country to earn the money, he deserves to get taxed on the money. Can't have it both ways.

It doesn't matter how much money you have, you don't want to see it get taken from you to help good for nothing lazy democrats.

If the money was spent wisely, perhaps this guy would have stayed in the U.S. However, since he knows his $67 million is going to be given away to deadbeat liberal democrats instead of being spent wisely, he has decided to keep it all.

While noting that he wasn't familiar with Schumer's proposal, Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, the top Republican on the Finance Committee, said he opposed people giving up their citizenship to avoid paying taxes. "It always bothers me when somebody renounces his citizenship in the greatest country on Earth just to save money, save taxes," Hatch said in an interview. "I was really upset at Eduardo Saverin for doing that, and there are others who are doing it too.".

Senator Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican, said an overhaul of the tax code is what's needed.

"If we had tax reform, this wouldn't be happening," said Grassley, a former chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.

Duh, what about the hard working retiree's who busted their asses their whole lives,
who made this country what it is (was), so people like you could have the good life?
That's not a good reason to pay your fair share of taxes?
Please explain exactly how the previous generation of workers are in any way responsible for me having the "good life"? Assuming you can prove that (which you can't), then I would only want my tax dollars going to them as opposed to the current generation of deadbeats who spend their entire lives on public assistance.

I would love to only have to pay my "fair share" of taxes. Unfortunately, I have to pay way more than my fair share due to people like you sucking 99 weeks of unemployment benefits and whining for more.
Seems wrong for a Brazillian to use America to make a fortune and then skip out of town tax-free.
                                                  Agreed.
So why are you still here? We know you're fabulously wealthy and successful. If you stay here the stinking liberals are going to take everything you got. Why don't you get out while you still can?
I've already been fully taxed on all the money I have made and the U.S. is still the best country in the world to live, at least for the time being. I don't consider myself fabulously wealthy as I was NEVER willing to quite put in the 80 hour work weeks that are required for massive financial success.

Very comfortable - yes. Fabulously wealthy - perhaps by your standards but not mine.

In order for the U.S. to get back on track, we need to stop giving away endless free money to those who refuse to put in an honest days work and do a whole lot more for people who are breaking their backs working 2 minimum wage jobs to make ends meet.

D2Bets, the difference between us is you're primarily concerned with the former group and I'm much more concerned about the latter.

Sorry if I took 99 weeks after working as many years as you are old.
