A friend just gave me $500 to put on this Bodemeister to win the Preakness, should i place the bet or book it myself

At 5 dimes betting the field against Bode is -190. You get even money by booking it. But like some said, should really book your friend's bet and do you want to cough up around 8 bills if he wins. GL.

pros and cons of booking the bet
pros:
1) 20% vig on horse racing win bets
2) you have every other horse in the race

cons:
1) buddy could be pissed if he finds out
2) you are fading the best horse in the race for more money than you probably would've bet otherwise

if you're going to have to seriously sweat losing $700-800 then lay the bet somewhere. maybe throw $100 on bodemeister yourself so you and your friend have a nice win together, or could drown your sorrows together.

Why don't you bet the 500 to place?

If he wins, you lose roughly 1.40 X 250, or 400.00 +/-, the difference between 1st and 2nd payout.

Upside, he runs 2nd and you collect roughly 800 +/-.

Runs 3rd or worse, you have not lost anything.

Also, the takeout on the bet is 18%.

I crunched all the numbers and have come to the realization that Bode will probably come in 2nd, the field against Bode is -190, I get the field for even money, i don't think there's much of a chance of me losing today.

If Bode gets loose on the lead, it could be over. Think that IHA keeps him honest. Seems like it is a speed favoring track today at Pimlico, so that will help Bode. But can he get the 1 3/16. GL.

creative cause 1, BODE 2, all third
