Thanks for the video... best part is when his son comes out to give him a hug and doesn't seem to want to let go. Cool moment.

Who did he strike out? I wonder if that poor bastard knows he'll be a 2014 SBR trivia answer.

Reminded me of Kenny Powers, if only the damn jerry curled fool threw that last pitch of his.

Kerry Wood was as good as anyone when he was in his hay-day. Injuries cost him a lot. One of my favorite cats in the league. Sad to see him go. Glad he retires a Cubbie.

That last pitch might have seriously been his best breaking ball of the season.

He was due to make some pretty decent coin this season after taking a huge discount last season. He could have just played out the string and collected his paycheck. Classy move to retire when he thought he wasn't helping the team.

any reason he leaves during the middle of the season? I realize the cubs have zero shot at a world series but still.

He just doesnt have it anymore, and he knows it. Even though they aren't going anywhere this year, he doesnt wanna go out and continue to hurt the teams chances. Was there today, great moment. KW is the man.

11 walks in 8 innings. He couldn't find the strike zone. I think he walked the bases loaded a couple times. And he was having shoulder soreness. Had nothing to do with whether his team could win the WS. If he was healthy and pitching well he wouldn't have retired. He didn't want to just collect an empty paycheck. Classy.
