    question for fixefox users
i downloaded the newest version of firefox and now to the far right of the bar where you type in a URL there is a little star and a arrow facing down. when i click on the arrow it shows a drop down window of sites i have typed in, but when i close firefox and clear all the history and cookies and whatnot, and then open firefox back up, the sites are still in the drop down window.
how do you get those to disappear.
for the life of me i can't figure it out. I have been through all the tools and whatnot and can't get it to clear.

It works for me, but it is a little weird. When you clear the history make sure that 'Browsing History' and 'Saved Form and Search History' are both checked. It will still show some pages in the drop down, but they're default pages not pages you've visited. If there is a page you've visited in the list make sure that when you clear the history you dont have that page open in another tab or it will show up again.

Also you might try google's new browser chrome.

They have a Incognito mode, to open a new incognito window in Chrome hit CTRL+SHIFT+N or read more about it here. Basically it just doesn't log any page you go to in the history.
You can browse the web more privately in Incognito mode. Open Incognito mode Important: When you use an Incognito window, you can browse more privately. You can switch between Incognito

thanks whitey, i'll try that google browser out, i've used firefox for a few years, but this newest version is giving me headaches with all the extras it has.
i finally got the stuff off there, i had to go to the history tab, show all history, go to bookmarks (even thought these sites i have visited aren't bookmarked), then unsorted bookmarks and delete them out from there.
i just don't get it though, i have all my setting the way they should be in my "tools" and everytime i close the browser it is supposed to clear eveything, it even pops up a window showing me everything i'm supposed to be clearing. yet when i open the browser back up my lastest web pages i typed in are still there. i guess i just have to manually go in and delete them each time.

anyone know if i delete this newest version if i can get the older version back. i'm doubting it.

            Quote from Firefox website

"Firefox 2.0.0.x will be maintained with security and stability updates until mid-December, 2008. All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to Firefox 3."

But they will still have the older versions available.
