Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Gilles Simon take the court at the Rome Masters for spots in the third round. Simon is having an outstanding clay-court season. The Frenchman made the semifinals in Monte Carlo and took the title in Bucharest, he may take this one in straight sets.

Roger Federer made a quick work of Argentine Carlos Berlocq to reach the pre-quarters of Rome Open 2012 and now faces Ferrero in the next round. Federer strong favourite.

Andy Murray became the first British male in 2011 to reach the Rome semi-finals since Pat Hughes finished runner-up in 1932, he now faces Gasquet in his next game.

              QUARTERFINALS

World No. 1 Djokovic served out the match against Argentina’s Juan Monaco without difficulty and moves into the quarterfinals, where he awaits Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Andreas Seppi saves six match points and stuns Stanislas Wawrinka in three tiebreak sets on Thursday in Rome. Seppi hopes to prolong his incredible week in the quarterfinals against Roger Federer.

David Ferrer dished out a first-set bagel to Frenchman Gilles Simon in his straight-set Wednesday win to move into the Rome quarterfinals against Richard Gasquet.

Five-time champion Rafael Nadal looks to extend his progress at the Masters 1000 Rome, as he takes to the court against Madrid finalist Tomas Berdych. The players are set to contest their 15th career meeting on Friday.
