#2I want to take my political advice from Rolling Stone. Largely written by hippies and left wing radicals.
Listen pal, we're doomed either outcome of this election. Obama will get in office, nothing will change, but I fear he will fukk the health market up. McCain is just as bad, I'd rather see Biden/Palin ticket to be honest.Comment -

I see this being just like the Carter years. Republicans were in office prior, the market tanks, recession, Carter is the new Messiah, just like Obama is portrayed as, comes in does nothing but give us another 4 miserable years, paves way for Reagan. We just now need to find our Reagan.Comment -

I guess you don't live in Michigan where 8% of the population is unemployed. Food stamps, unemployment benefits, WIC, Bridge, etc. This shit is everywhere. Don't try to say its strawman when you don't have a clue about the issue.
In regards to European health systems, they appoint you where to go to get health care. You wait on waiting lists depending on severity of your concern. The United States has some of the best physicians world wide because it is a private sector. You would essentially be paying more money in taxes (close to what you pay now for health care) for inadequate service. I don't see how/why you would want that.
For the record, McCain raising taxes on health care benefits is retarted and I don't support that at all either.Comment -

#18Originally posted by DeuceI have fantastic health care. I pay 5 dollars for my scripts, office visits free, etc. The thing here is most of the people that are uninsured are the people that have no jobs, no care to get a job, live off of government handouts and/or don't even belong in this country at all. If people have major health issues as is, they go to the ER and tax payers pay for it anyways.
This is so unbelievably not true. You only have all of that because you've never been sick. The ER thing is just a Republican scare tactic. They only treat emergent conditions at the ER. So if you have cancer, aids, etc they turn you away until you are dying -- then they admit you, which ends up costing the hospital and taxpayers FAR MORE than if they could have been treated when they were less sick.
I had cancer at 22 and yes I had good insurance and got great treatment. It cost $150,000 and I wasn't charged a dime (same treatment costs $7,000 in mexico though). After my treatment was done my insurance raised my premium to $1,700 a month.
$1,700 a month for a 23 year old individual policy. Changing companies would mean no coverage in case of a re-occurrance of my cancer, which though the chances were <5% was not something to be risked.
Down here in the third world my policy is about $100 a month. It includes house calls, prescriptions, and even treatment in the US if I happen to be there.Comment -

#21Originally posted by DeuceIf you really feel this way, you sir are a neolib. There is no validity of the article. I could find dirt on Obama too, none of us know the validity so what would be the point?
It's not about dirt. It's about people that know McCoot the best, a friend/confidant, a fellow maverick congressman who voted against Bush with him and a fellow Hanoi-Hilton POW talking about what makes him tick. It's far more revealing than what I had known about him.
If you have such "dirt" on Obama, post it. I would love to read about what makes him tick from people that know him best.Comment -

#26Originally posted by DeuceWhat company was it if you don't mind me asking? Did you shop around different markets i/e BCBS, Aetna, BCN, etc? Sounds pretty severe.
I had aetna through my dad's business, they left Colorado at the end of my treatment and my policy was transferred to anthem/blue shield/blue cross.
I could not shop around as new policies exclude pre-existing conditions, which includes the cancer even though at the time there was no sign of it in my body. After 5 years you are considered cured and you can get a normal policy.
I shopped around the world and the policy I found here fit the best (note this is not Socialized medicine here in that everyone does not have the same policy, they have gov't coverage for poor people -- which helps keep overall costs down -- and rich people can buy whatever private coverage they want. this is remarkably similar to obamas plan)Comment -

That aint news, retard, that's unfounded propaganda that mentally slow people like you eat up on a daily basis.
But then again, you think abortion should be outlawed because only a small percentage of abortions are due to rape/incest. I'm sure if your daughter was raped by a gang of black hoodlums and pregnant with triplets. You would probably perform the abortion yourself with a coat hanger.Comment -

I'm just pointing out that even in the history of the US, 8% unemployment is low.
Recessions as recently as 20 years ago saw rates over 10% in the USA. I don't think we go that high this time around, but I bet you we see 8% nationwide next year.Comment -
