What's the point? The same reason people like you and I would bet a couple hundred dollars on a game. We can afford to lose that and still buy the things we want. Nothing wrong with gambling with money you can afford to lose.

Now if he was making like 1-2 Million a fight, then yeah it would be stupid to bet that kind of money on 1 game. But he can afford to lose that and still buy all the mansions he wants, and STILL have millions left in his bank. Nobody on this forum is any different than Mayweather as far as gambling goes, so I don't see why people feel they have the right to criticize him when he bets his money to enjoy some NBA gambling action.
