#5pittsburgh is so beat up...... and when you are starting a 4th string rb or a taxi squad rb.... that's kinda an unknown quantity. The line that gave up 9 sacks to the eagles, is now banged up, with backups in and people playing out of position. Big Ben is ALWAYS somewhat hurt.
still missing NT casey hampton, who really is the 2nd most important person on this defense outside of troy polomalu. Jags have owned the steelers of late.
I'm starting to worry that Hines Ward is the 2nd to last year of a great career and not going to do too much the rest of the way...
But it is the Steelers, they love prime time games, and Big Ben finds ways to win, he is a winner plain and simple and by and large the steelers of the 21st milenium have been winners and good teams find ways to win..... so I don't know what to make of this game either.Comment -

#8If you have a lot of in depth knowledge of football, or care at all about either teams involved... NO game is boring really.... there are less 300 professional football games played a year... I'd be there...... But I guess with the way tv is today, might as well watch it at home and not pay 6 bones for a beerComment -

Steelers are missing both Parker and Mendenhall. Big Ben is hurt and HORRIBLE right now. Jacksonville will take it by a couple scoresComment -

#11if it seems too good to be true, it is...it looks like an easy thing to take pitt plus 6, and these two teams spell under because of defense, do exactly the opposite..not for the reason to go against it..i have been capping this game for a week...it is going to be a great game...first half close, jags pull away in the second half 27-17Comment -

#16I think if the Steelers were to revert to the "tommy-gun" tommy Maddux era steeler's football mentality they might have a shot at this game... Jags aren't too good defending the aerial attack.
But I think the Stillers will be predictable and keep to their game plan of "trying" to establish the run and mixing in the short dink and dunk passing stuff unsuccessfully. In the mean time the jags will be up 14-0 or 10-3 at worst.
I think the only way the Steelers win, is a) to have a great D make some great plays and turnover...which is possible with playmakers like harrison, woodley, polomalu.
b) let Big ben loose with some 4-5 wide formations, and using the big soft handed tight ends they have...either hines ward or santonion holmes has the game of his life.
c) great special teams
d) a new cult hero in pittsburgh is born with carey davis or mewelde moore rushing for 140 yard....
and maybe e)... steelers 9 jags 6.... battle of inept offenses...... Steelers will stop the run and make Garrard beat them and he fails..Comment -

#19buffalo is proving they have been paper champs thus far.
Indy is not a great..and maybe not even a good team
Houston proved they are not a good and prob a borderline bad team..
and tenn beat them using better defense....which is basically what the burgh has to do...
all close games.. they could be 0-4Comment -

#21That's a good call Ryan.
in the back of my head I still have the fact that before the year started, the steelers were said to have had the "toughest schedule" going into the year.
but its true, the steeler haven't really faced all too much either... as far as we can tell
They didn't get "killed" by philly though...
good doggy.. but they suck on the road....
coming off a short week....
in all honesty this should be a no play for me...but my gf is gone...and another glorious night watching playoffs and football... can't just let this game pass...
screw being smart and patient... I gotta chase that buff lossComment -

#25Here is my bet:
2 Team Parlay risk 25 win 65 430 Jaguars -5½ (-110) (NFL)
429 Steelers over 37½ (-110) (NFL)
I think Jac will win, and both teams will score a lot. But it really is a terrible game to bet on but I'm a degenerate gambler and I had a good weekend so what the hell. Good luck all!Comment -

#33Small play Jags +3/Saints/Minn Over 38....$250 to win $156
Pitt is banged up, on the road, and on a short week which usually spells trouble for the road team! They do have the better QB and receivers but they dicked around and kept trying to force the run vs the Ravens and almost lost! Jack should be able to wear them down and MNF should hit 40+ easy w/Drew Brees throwing & AP running vs that Saint D!

#35they haven't shown all the potential they had from last years, but the jags d has some playmakers on it. I predict MAYBE an offensive touchdown a piece, probably more field goals. But I would not be suprised at all to see a pick six by the jags.
Anyways, got the jags -5.5, they are just too beat up, although unknown rb's coming in can always be a little scary. Tough game but I have to like the home favorite.Comment
