When you think about it. I like rap btw, just posting what i've always recognized.

The way they talk about how they run their neighborhoods, make connections to real life mobsters in songs, claim to be thugging with their "families", etc.

The crips was started by someone who was obsessed with Al Capone, and the bloods was started because the guy had a problem with the leader from the crips. It all roots from classy, italian style "thugging/ballin". (although their brilliant gimmick was blue vs. red)

no for real... I live in one of the worst gang ridden neighborhoods in america... and you wouldn't believe how many kids walking down the street wear these damn t-shirts with al pacino from scar face on them..


Its a big deal to have "clout".... in the ghetto... in a world where you know you will never have "real" power.... you have to make a big thing out of running your block.. or pretending your GD gang is a big deal and "runs" things..

I consider anyone that makes their money from ill gotten gains, gangsters. The look has nothing to do with being a gangster. I have known some dorky, fat, short old folks that most people think they are taxi drivers when in reality they are makings tens of thousand of dollars and living without sweating. They are the real modern gangsters.

Unless they have gang ties, they are day to day hustlers. Maybe more successful than known gangsters, but they just dont have the resources/backing of a thriving gangster.

the avg guy on the street that is all about machismo...is gonna be gone in 2-3 years and replaced with a "crazier" and tougher version of him.. hustling for the new "man'...

gang ties these days are growing looser and looser... back in the 60's and 70's inner city gangs had strong ties and great leadership.... anymore the leadership changes every 6 months when a big sting happens... next thing you know you got some crazy...19 y/o running entire neighborhoods that can't spell his name..and doesn't know why he hates that rival gang, nor how he can profit..... he only knows... "i am supposed to hate xzy gang.... let's go kill xyz gang" very counterproductive.....

so in chicago anyways...the police hate this.. cuz there is no rhyme or reason to the crime or anything... its just random testosterone/vendita induced violence

the alternative is living in grandma's beat up shack and NOT getting an education at the local school where the teacher's don't teach and Maybe getting a job at the local Mcdonald's or as a city busdriver..

Gang banging is different than Gangsters which do not exist as much anymore due to unreal technology implemented by USA Gov't. The days of John Gotti are over and Italian Mafia are around but a lot smaller and into more legit things.

Drugs are controlled by Foreign groups now from Central America.

Crips and Bloods and MS-13 types are gang bangers not gangsters and are very dangerous with nothing to lose and control just neighborhoods where they are from and make a few bucks hustling weed and other drugs..
