Is CC Sabatia a choke artist?
There's really no other explanation, dude has a 3 ERA during the regular season then an 8 ERA in postseason. I lost a 100 bucks bettin on that fukin choke artist today, Milwaukee immediately took a 1-0 lead and I'm like alright good start with CCs ERA that should at least get me through 2 or 3 innings, then in bottom of the 2nd with 2 outs and a guy on 3rd he walks the pitcher , then walks the next guy to load the bases , then walks the next guy to give up a run , then gives up a grand slam on 1-2 pitch to the next guy . I made the bet knowing full well of his postseason ERA but I thought man he's had a great year this year and with a new team maybe the jinx is off, but clearly CC is just a postseason choke artist. He had absolutely zero control and after loading the bases again in the 4th they finally pulled him, it was like CC turned into a lil league pitcher as soon as they told him it's an important game, some guys are great until you put the pressure of a big game on them.

I'd say the jury is still out. You can't really blame him for last night because it was his fourth straight start on three days rest and he had thrown 122 pitches in his last start. He actualy deserves credit for not breaking down sooner.

I gotta agree with LT on this - you can't go crazy on a guy pitching THAT much (especially in today's game) and not performing.
Although - you are what you are. Down the stretch, Sabathia has been dominant. The playoffs? Horrible so far in his career - but I still think there's not enough body of work to say that - plus the counter argument of him winning must-win games down the stretch on short rest... Who knows, but you gotta give the guy credit for laying it all on the line for weeks now - especially in the walk year of his deal.

geeze, how can you start 3rd consecutive 3 day rest and expect to be great. i am already amazed at cc who won those two games on back to back 3 days start. i think the brewers just ****ed up cc's career letting him pitching so much. watch as the yankees aquire him for 100 million and he becomes the next kevin brown.

not so funny when your first sports bet was on the yankees and kevin brown just made sure the game was over by the 2nd inning. that is how i remember him for so long.

He (CC) actually threw a good game and got unlucky against a guy who lacks equal power with the rest of the line-up in Philly. He was also tired. If I was a GM this guy would be on my team if i could afford him.

Kevin Brown was totally sick in Florida, nearly unhittable with his crazy action. Then he totally feel apart...lol, and totally over paid.

                      I'm going with yes.

1-3 with an ERA of like 10 over the last two seasons in the playoffs. Compare with his excellent regular season stats.

No one here has answered the question b/c they all think I'm talkin about this one game, yes he pitched like garbage yesterday but that doesn't qualify a guy as a choke artist, all great pitchers have had terrible games in the postseason, my question is his overall ERA in the postseason is 8 for SEVERAL postseason appearances and like a 1-4 record in the postseason after pitching like god throughout the regular season to a 3 ERA last two years and winning the Cy Young last year. Also a poster said he got "unlucky" to give up the grand slam, did he also get unlucky not to be able to get the pitcher out with 2 outs and ended up walking him, then get unlucky to walk the next guy to load the bases, then unlucky to walk the next guy to score a run, then unlucky to give up a grand slam to one of the worst power hitters on he team on a 1-2 pitch, then unlucky to load the bases again in the 4th? Also was he unlucky in his previous 4 postseason starts to have a 1-3 record with an 8 ERA. No one is addressing the fact that CC cannot generate his best stuff for the big games, he pitched like ABSOLUTE GARBAGE this last game, I know, b/c I was watching and betting on him. KEEP IN MIND I AM REFERRING TO THE BIG GAMES OF POSTSEASON WHERE HE IS A 1-4 PITCHER WITH AN 8 ERA, NOTTTTT THE REGULAR SEASON WHERE I AGREE HE IS A CY YOUNG WINNING BEAST, THIS IS ABOUT NOT PRODUCING YOUR BEST STUFF DURING THE BIG GAMES, AKA CHOKING.

It was for the reason I played the Phillies yesterday. Four straight games on 3 days rest! Isn't he human?

I posted the facts. I hope he signs with the Yankees because he won't be worth what they pay him.
