Maybe this is a simple case of wanting to be right. Pre-season I touted Dan Haren as baseball's official KO Killer. I predicted he would mow down batters this season with the same surgical aplomb as my Lawn Boy with the Briggs and Stratton engine. It hasn't happened...yet.

Haren was supposed to be the back end of one of baseball's most feared one two punch along with Jered "The Dream" Weaver. Add Sir Albert Pujols to the mix as one of two monster offseason acquisitions (along with CJ Wilson) and the Angels merely had to play the games until the postseason arrived. But a not so funny thing happened if you're an Angels fan or backer. Haren got bombed in his first start and LA has struggled mightily with a 6-14 record headed into this one. Isn't it time they righted this luxury liner before it turns into the Titanic?

Today is the beginning. Haren followed up his dubious debut with two pretty good outings. He has allowed only 3 runs and averaged 7 innings over his last two appearances. Do you truly believe this offense will slumber indefinitely? Me neither. Sure Cleveland's starter today Jeanmar Gomez has pitched well but he's the Indians 5^th starter and more of a reliever than a mainstay. I love Haren and the Angels laying marginal lumber in this spot. Remember, Cleveland has not been good at home this season, standing at 3-6 before the fan friendlies this season.
