Character suspect? Never got in trouble once........

So he had a good bowl game catching 2 long balls against Nebraska before he was ejected...great.

vs. the only other good? teams he played in 2011:

    Florida 2 catches 17 yards
    Georgia 5 catches 85 yards 1TD
    Miss St 5 catches 25 yards 1TD
    Ark 3 catches 19 yards
    Clemson 2 catches 29 yards 1 TD

His season was a consensus major disappointment and his production was half of prior year.

If he wasn't out of shape then why did he drop 20 lbs now?

In 2010 he put up monster stats.....last season, The Gamecocks QB got kicked off the team half way thru the season, and then they went with a running zone read offense with a speedy QB (Still won 11 games).....

Stephen Hill from Georgia Tech should also be criticized for lack of production too I guess?

He killed Alabama (Dre Kirkpatrick and Mark Barron) in 2010

Never said he was in amazing shape, just he was never playing as fat as that picture.....

Sorry but any SEC fan over the past few seasons will tell you Alshon Jeffery was a force

Definitely a beast pick and unbelievable that he slipped all the way to the second round. Surprised a team like the Jets, Giants or Cleveland didn't take a shot at getting him. Imagine if Jacksonville would have draft him and Blackmon in the first two rounds?

(Not sure if JAX even had a low second round pick though).

But that would have been sick.

It will be interesting to see who turns out to be a better WR. I know Hill has the speed adv, but Jeffrey is solid wide out.

Speed is fine, but it's a bit overrated for receivers in today's NFL. Other less measurable skills are much more important. You just don't see the that many straight bombs anymore with the defenses teams play. It's all about mismatches and being able to catch over the middle in zone and go up and get the ball. If speed was so important Hester and Knox would have been a deadly combo. Give me size and strength (and hands) over speed in today's NFL hands down.

Route running, hands and concentration are the most important traits an NFL wide receiver needs in the league.

Speed is overrated if you don't have at least two out of the three above already.
