it depends on your situation. if you still live with your parents, or in my case, with my widowed aunt, it's very possible, paying for all the necessities minus rent. even rent is possible oce you work your way up.

if you have a wife and kids on the other hand and are the main source of income, it's a lot tougher and NOT recommended, simply because other people will have to rely on your luck.

i am hoping to do this as a living hopefully also, but you'll have to save a lot to start with, and make huge bets once a week or something.

If your betting both sides to a game looking for middles and scalps it might be possible but you need 100k to start

If your handicapping and betting one side you will lose your shirt.

I bet both sides of a game, mostly arbs, sometimes the lines moves enough to get middle, but very rare nowdays. I have a full time job but still make approx 10k a year doing this. Was 25 to 30k before U.S closed it's doors and bonuses became a thing of the past.
