I was looking for something to hedge and noticed OKC +1 for the 2nd half. I jumped on it. I don't even understand 2nd half bets.

Does the score basically start 0-0 and OKC needs to win or not lose by more than 1?

yes. if they lose 2nd half by 1 point then your bet is a push

Sounds a bit reckless but I had been switching between the Cubs game and the OKC/Lakers game and the Thunder were looking solid. Halftime was almost up and I saw the 2H spread which had the Thunder +1 and just felt like a good bet.

Next time its referred to as a chase. You lost a bet so you make another to "make up" for a losing wager (s), its called a chase not a hedge. A hedge is something you might see once in a while if you peek in the shower while mom is in there.
