Byrd has been a solid bottom of the order hitter his whole career. .278 lifetime average. He got hit in the face with a pitch last season and that was the end of him. He's scared at the plate. He's so worried about the inside pitch you can ace him on the outside corner and he has no chance. Sad ending for him in Chicago, but maybe someone in Boston can get him over his fear. Not a bad move by Boston, IMO. Low risk, high reward.Comment -
