the best baseball teams in a season rarely win the word series. and just because you win the world series doesn't make that team the best team of the season.

the only major sport were the best team wins is the NBA.

the rangers would need to win more than 105 games to be considered one of the best in recent memory. then people could debate about the strength of schedule of the rangers vs. other best teams.

So far they're the best group of guys to lose twice in the World Series as heavy faves.

I think Darvish is an OK addition. They can't really get any more stacked and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 120 games for real.

However, Seattle Mariners won like 114 or 116 about 10 years ago and lost in the first round of the playoffs. If they win this year they're probably the best team in the last 20 years.
