Opie, we know you are required to worship him, don't sweat it.
I think he'll be alright, but never worth the insane contract he was gifted.

Did you know in Japan the baseball is smaller than the one used in America?
Also when has a Japanese pitcher lived up to the hype. There is this fantasy of finding a great Japanese pitcher that has never happened.

CJ was an arrogant locker room cancer and so full of himself that the Rangers were not even interested in re-signing him...and was 0-7 in the playoffs.

He will be fine, 14-16 wins this season for the Rangers...and he may be their 5th best starter

He is an arogant POS, and his consistent playoff misfortune was not worth his attitude.

You dont have to be a great pitcher to play for the rangers, alot of great ones wouldnt even want to pitch in arlington with the kind of numbers you are going to post in that hitters park. Darvish is 1-0 and looked pretty solid under pressure today with the bases loaded. You are never out of a game when you have the texas offense behind you, I like how he pitches under pressure. Still a work in progress.

he was being careful with mauer, morneau, willingham. so he walked some people and gave up a few singles. no biggies though, the kid gets it.

Are you making this analyses by looking at the box score? His pitches were all over the place and though the Twins couldn't capitalize, Blackburn was the superior pitcher today. Rangers were clutch with two outs and the final box score won't tell the true story of how Yu still has not been able to consistently locate all of his pitches. MVP of today's game is Hamilton and Napoli--whose catching skills prevented things from getting a lot worse.
I got LUCKY and cashed the Rangers. Twins were hit for hit with the Rangers until the 9th...had more players in scoring position, and drew more walks. Their OBS was solid, but couldn't get it done fortunately--I'm rather grateful. I think there was only one or two innings where the leadoff hitter didn't get on base.

well, i was following on mlb site, you got me, but he didn't give up the big hit to willingham or morneau, preferring to be careful and pitch around them. to me that's more important than walking people and giving up a few little hits, but i was on the under. when there's 2 runners on base you just don't want to give up the long ball and willingham has been hot. but you're right i didn't see it, i just kept seeing loads of guys on the bases and that he kept it at 2 runs.

I see things a little differently. Yu has not settled in. His body language is awkward and it feels like he's holding back from his playing style. I have seen lot's of Japanese footage of him in his element and this guy plays like Valverde when he's feeling it. If you watch him play, he's constantly touching his face on the mound and showing other signs of being nervous. Maybe we'll agree to just disagree, but in my opinion the walks, especially with a lead, were not planned. On to the next one.

Did either of you watch the game? He loaded the bases 3 fukking times in 5 innings to one of the worst lineups in baseball.

guy should settle in and be decent that WHIP is atrocious though. a few years of "effectively wild" would be expensive with that contract. Professional hitters catch up, I KNOW
