The 2012 NHL Playoffs begin tonight in dramatic fashion as each series seems to be packed full of intrigue.

Before I get started I want to point out a couple of things first.

First, I am a Flyers fan. Secondly, that does not enter the equation when there is money on the line so gtfo with that nonsense if that's what you're thinking.

OK now that's cleared up, let's get started.

Flyers are deeper offensively, better defensively, and have the better goalie. Why, therefore, would I pick Pittsburgh? Simply because they have Crosby and Malkin?

Flyers have dominated them this season winning 4 games out of 6.

The playoffs are much more physical, so I don't think Crosby will get the Gretzky treatment that he got in the last few games of the regular season. I think he gets rocked within the first 3 games and gets another concussion. Without Crosby it becomes easier to stifle Malkin, and the series is yours.

Well, it's pretty obvious you don't pay attention to details.

Philly's 3rd line winger has 28 goals. A 3rd line winger....28 goals.

Briere is healthy and playing tonight.

Philly has Giroux, Hartnell, Jagr, Simmonds, Read, Voracek, Couturier, Briere, Schenn, Talbot.

That's not mentioning Wellwood who has played unbelievably since he got called up.

Philly is much deeper offensively and will roll out 4 lines that can score to pittsburgh's 2 1/2 lines that can score.

Philly is better defensively and has the better goalie in Bryzgalov.

I bet if you aren't a flyers fan than this thread doens't even get created. "money on the line", in what part of the original post did you label any reasons for taking any team? You didn't mention one fact about the Flyers ML or why they are a good pick, only that you are taking them.

Pens have 5 players with 25 + goals yet Flyers are deeper and better offensively.
Orpik and Letang are better than anything the Flyers have on defense.

Better coach, more experience in big games/series, Flyers don't have an advantage ANYWHERE.

Orpik is slower than molasses and will get exposed this series. Letang is their best offensive d-man but defensively he's just ok. Flyers have much better defensive defensemen. Grossmann and Coburn are better than anyone on the Pens defensively.

We'll compare that to what's going to happen in the playoffs then you can explain what the regular season means......
