it's a noon game on a weekday and it snowed last night. i think that it's a mistake to read too much into the attendance at such a game. after all, the Tribe did have (easily) the biggest increase in attendance in the majors last season.

Biff makes some good points, its 39 degrees, noon weekday, and school still in session, who do you expect to be at this game

Season does not need to be 162 games.
Dumb tradition.

Wrigley will have 30+ thousand at their game today. And they are just as bad as Cleveland. Just saying

Because they slow-mo'ed a panoramic view of the crowd and you were able to do a head count?

Apples and oranges. Chicago has 10x the population of Cleveland, and has been playing day games for 100 years. Weekday home day games in Cleveland are an anomaly

I don't know about tradition, think it has something to do with the ground balls in the hole evening out...
Although shortening the season to 140 and having longer playoff series' would make sense to me...

Called revenue sharing, Cleveland makes a profit cuz they don't spend shit on their team while getting tens of millions in rev sharing.
I watched the same guy get 2 home run balls back to back at a marlins game last year bc there was literally no one within 500 yards, he didn't even run he just walked over and picked them up....and the marlins not only made millions last year but somehow justified building a new 500 million dollar stadium

Same here, they would need cheerleaders for me to watch them in any scenario.

If you're not the Cubs or a New York team, maybe throw in Dodgers/Angels due to city population, you shouldn't have weekday afternoon games. That being said, I am looking forward to the few Wednesday afternoon Astros games this season, I rather enjoy a sparse crowd.

Reasons for shitty attendance:
Workday
Kids in school
Freezing cold
Boring 1-3 team that cant score any runs
Impossible to bond with a team that lets all their players go when they become good. Look and some of the players we have let go in recent years. CC Sabathia and then Cliff Lee after he wins a Cy Young award.Cleveland sold out 400+ games in the 90's when they were actually fun to watch and were going to playoffs and World Series. They had a nice run last summer and were actually selling out some games but fell apart in the end. This offseason they did nothing to make the team better. Plus this is a Browns town and the city is really down on sports after watching the Indians do nothing to improve and then the Browns do less than nothing. Basically it sucks to be a Cleveland sports fan.
