No team in the SEC has a tougher schedule than USC. Look at all the creampuff non conf opponents they schedule every season.

It's not the nonconference games that matter, thats not what defines your season if you are one of the big guns in the SEC, it's what you do inside conference that counts. That's where the studs are, that's where your toughest games are going to come from. Just a brutal, physical conference where every team has both size and speed. Speed to burn. So yes, when the best teams in the country are mostly within 1 conference then that is where the real competition lies, no surprise out of conference games are usually a step down for most SEC teams. They beat each other up in conference play and will often knock each other off a NC opportunity.

In the Pac-10 your nonconference games for a team like USC are often your toughest competition, you don't face much week to week. I give them credit for who they schedule, I actually am a big Pete Carroll fan and don't want to take anything away from him, I just think playing week in and week out in the SEC is a lot different than doing that in the PAC-10.

Good post. I don't think USC is overrated until they get out of the conference. Despite the beating Thursday they are pretty much the superior team out there, have been for years. I just think many supporters would be surprised how average they'd become playing an SEC team week in and week out.

I'm no SEC apologist, just keeping it real. That conference is more like playing on Sundays than anyone else, probably why they dominate the 1st round on draft days.
