#9I'll be damned. I just taped The Sting last night. I haven't seen it since it came out. I guess I'll be watching it with new eyes.
He really was one of the best actors of his generation. For a long time there, he was "the guy." So many important roles from Cool Hand Luke to Butch Cassidy to Hud. Canadians of course always think of Slap Shot.
Even in later years, he was still bringing it. Road To Perdition. The mini-series Empire Falls. I loved him in the Coen Bros., The Hudsucker Proxy, although that movie never seemed to catch on with the public.
Interesting guy too. I recall a piece done by 60 Minutes. He seemed very human - like he might not be easy to live with all the time.
Yet somehow he stayed married to the classy Joanne Woodward for, I dunno, must've been 50+ years.

Watch yourself, Ace. I had to sleep on the couch last night, not in the best of moods. I would bury a poster in a heart beat this morning. Bread, rest assure, this is for your own safety.Comment -

I have some combo technology. It is a VCR/DVD player. I am tech challenged for sure. Do they have it where you can tape stuff off the TV on DVD now? I don't know.
This site could have a whole special sub-forum for all my tech and computer related questions.
But anyway, this thread does not seem like the appropriate place.Comment -

#20Slap Shot slipped my mind, Mudcat. Another one to add to my Newman Film Festival list. And agree he probably was a pretty genuine guy off camera, seemed to enjoy his privacy more than many in his position do these days.Comment -

#29I am a big film buff so I can't help but look at this topic in terms of movies and performances.
But really there's nothing anyone can say about the man's life that's more important than this:
