IT help for delivery of plays
I am looking for the best possible solution for delivery of plays to customers taking into consideration reliability, speed, fair equal access, and convenience. The plays are very time sensitive due to significant line movement shortly after release.

I have been sending plays via e-mail and text message but almost every week a few clients have issues with e-mail delays and/or text delivery, and every month or so I have a widespread e-mail issue that causes many clients to receive plays after lines have moved.

The biggest issue with bulk e-mail is that not all recipients receive the e-mail at the same time due to different locations and speeds of ISP's, spam filters, and random system failures or delays. In rare cases, e-mails will not go through at all due to errant spam blocking.

With bulk text messaging, not all recipients receive the text at the same time, and in some cases messages do not get delivered at all. A very common problem is clients receiving the first text, but not a second or third text. My cell provider refuses to take any responsibility for this. Additionally, not all clients have access or knowledge of text messaging, or do not prefer using it.

Many people have suggested going to a countdown type of web page similar to what Dr. Bob uses, and I am leaning in this direction for college basketball. However, it seems far less convenient than e-mail and/or text as it requires being in front of a computer, thus causing more of a need for precise set release times which I would like to avoid if possible. There is also the potential of the page being blocked by work/school filters.

Does anyone have any other ideas or solutions? Perhaps using an RSS feed, or an advanced online (text/e-mail) messaging system, or some other type of technology I may not be aware of?

Thanks for reading and I would be happy to offer a free RAS college football subscription to anyone who can provide a workable solution to this.

Other than RAS, I know of no way to just "join" a syndicate (and yes, obv, I'm labelling RAS a kind of a syndicate; it's a publicly available one). -PokerJoe Oct 2010

As a long time subscriber to your service I have always felt the plays were delivered on time and I have never had a complaint with the line moving against me.I realize with your release of a play, especially with a total, there is going to be some line movement and some people may be slow to react but that is their fault. The issue with their isp and delays may be unsolvable even with a different way of delivering the plays.I think some people would be better off investing in a better isp in my opinion

I have not lost one game, not one ,on a total moving against me with any of your plays that I can remember..The wnba season was fantastic with totals this year for me.

I use some real time feeds with stocks and I will ask around on the stock forums what the technology is on the feeds. I just have a feeling if it's too complicated for some people to figure out text messages ,I cant imagine them figuring out rss feeds or other ways to receive the plays.

You have one of the best services I have ever subscribed to,great work once again

    cheers

Why not just have a 'VIP' area on a website where only accounts you enable can view the content? You could update the section at the same time you would send the email.

I would probably continue with email/text messages and offer a web page alternative...

Although, I'm wondering how you send out your text messages and emails? Do you have your own dedicated messaging server?

You could also offer a custom application that people install on their PC that pulls your plays from an RSS feed...

If you want reliability then forget about email, you are going to have to call them. Sounds like a tall order but actually it is very easy and inexpensive:
