I was thinking about that today while making a fairly long drive - can't get away from this sh1t even on the road.
Because I'd just made a post about a recent experience I had with an offshore.
Sites like this are important for the offshore bettor, not ony for the ratings (I also disagree with some, but still have reasonble confidence in the good intentions) but for the experiences of other players.
The best thing about SBR is that they will allow a member to relate even bad experiences with a advertised "A" book. Rather than jumping in like a bullheaded cop, as is the case with another popular site.
It seems to work. Their are a number of posters here who can smell out a fishy bash story and uncover the facts. The "pink lady" story of some months ago (gal supposedly started betting in Costa Rica while on vacation, and "cheated" by a book, new bettor who knew all about arcane stuff like "the Pinny Lean") remails the classic. Uncovered expertly by the Sherlock Holmes's on this site.l
But a lot of the tales coming in are legit, or at least semi-legit. Yet I wonder what percentage of all those who bet on sports (or horses) offshore ever come to a site and forum like this. Not necessarily to post, maybe just to lurk and learn.
You'd have to know the total number of offshore sports/horse clients, and the membership of the books. Even that wouldn't ge accurate, as many have more than one book and many others are members or post at more than one forum.
Percentage-wise, tho, a rough "human nature" type estimate would be 10% max who post or are non-posting members of sites like this. And that figure may even be too high.
And so there are a lot of horror stories, most by nature would be legit (the shot takers know of these sites) that we will never hear.
Quite possibly a small army of ex-offshore bettors who vocally curse offshore because of their own bad experience. Who, perhaps, had they known of a site like this maybe could have had their issues resolved.
