If there was a top 10 list for the most outrageous, bizzare and off the wall behaving team owners or coaches, who would be on it?Hell, you could have a top 100 and there would be a case to be made where any one of them could be #1.It's almost like there is a competition to be #1.

    Al Davis-

    Steinbrenner

    Pete Rose

    Billy Martin

    Jerry Jones

    Bill Veek

    Charlie Finley

    Jerry Glanville

    Marge Schott

    Jerry Tarkanian

    Mark Cuban etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc

Brent, if you don't put the owner of the Detroit Lions on there(Ford)...how can we take you seriously? He is the one who has stood by Matt McMillian for wayyyyyyyyyyy to long.

For the younger guys and girls on the forum, research Charlie Finley. This guy was a bonafide nut job. The players could not stand his guts.

Bill Veeck was always thinking outside the box, a real 'Barnum & Bailey' style of promotion about him. But he also kept the fans' and the game's interests close more than a lot of the other names on that list.

And Marge Schott, as bitter and abrasive as she was, had a mandate to her front office that Cincinnati would always remain one of the least expensive places for a family to come watch a ballgame. The hot dogs and soft drinks and bleacher seats were consistently among the cheapest while she was the Reds' owner.

It's nice that she would allow black fans to sit in the bleacher seats and eat hot dogs.

Yeah, I certainly can't defend her one little bit for her racial and cultural ignorance/intolerance. But I do think she got a raw deal from Selig and others who just didn't like her and didn't like having a female sitting in the meetings with them. She made some anti-Jewish statements along the way, and that no doubt go under Selig's skin. The irony/hypocrisy of it is her comments about blacks and Jews were not really any different Bruce Froemming's slur at Jews, and Selig will be sitting right there in Cooperstown at some point applauding Froemming's selection to the Hall of Fame.
