This is beyond petty. You know what he meant. He said TV instead of radio. Big deal!!

It's like worrying about someone "lying about a BJ".

That would be more logical to discuss what he "meant" instead of trying to massage things to fit a point... It's likely he could have meant radio...

Prodigy was a single portal site which means u could only access what they offered. It wasn't a true Internet.

I am not a Wikipedia fan but I am assuming the tires on my car are older then you so you probably are a Wikipedia fan...

              From Wiki:
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that interchange data by packet switching using the standardized Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP). It is a "network of networks" that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other technologies.

If you notice it says the internet IS then it says, after the bold, what it does... "that interchange data.." and so on... WWW or World Wide Web is just a name that was given to the INFRASTRUCTURE or computers linked together globally like a web... Browsers came out and www became the prefix NOT the definition of what the internet IS....

God damn man.... how f*ckin' stupid are you...? You are a waste of a sperm cell.. This is wasting my afternoon...

I don't care what this KID has to say anymore I'm out of this thread....

For the last time he proves my first post in this thread...

So much wrong here, from both sides. But dagger's mostly right.

WWW is the most commonly used piece of the internet, but it is not "the internet as we know it". The internet was around before WWW.

However, Prodigy was NOT a part of the internet. Also, CompuServe came way before Prodigy. I used them both and they were never considered "the internet" except to people who didn't know the difference when WWW started showing up. Neither one began as an part of the internet. They were independent dial up online services. Compuserve actually had some internet connectivity in the late 80's. Prodigy didn't really have anything to do with the internet until the mid 90's.

Arguing when the internet was invented is really pointless. Was it when some guy thought it up in the 40's, or when the first TCP/IP WAN started in the early 80's? Or somewhere in between? The internet technology evolved, it wasn't just a product that was unveiled one day.

And on Biden, it's not a big deal. Has US politics really come down to overanalysis of comments about something that happened almost 80 years ago? He probably meant radio. Or he was refering to Roosevelt's 1933 television address about the gold standard. Also, it doesn't matter how many TVs there were. It doesn't minimize the distribution of his message. They would transmit by radio back then, too, and reach just about everyone. Just because someone sends a message out to 200 TV's, that doesn't mean it's the only way he is communicating. Think a bit, and move beyond these stupid "gotcha" moments that mean nothing.

Absolutely, No. I remember when AOL finally included Internet access as well, some time around 1994. Prodigy, Compuserve, and AOL were all private dial up networks originally. And yeah, Biden probably meant the radio. Pretty shocking that none of these people arguing about this quote realized that he simply transposed the two terms. It's not like no other politician has ever said the wrong word accidentally. And incidentally, FDR was well known for his "fireside chats" on the radio when he was President. It is certainly within reason to assume this practice originated prior to his inauguration as President.

You left wing assswipes never fail to make me laugh. First of all, there is no evidence that GOVERNOR Roosevelt made any kind of speech when the stock market crashed.

                        But that aside.

Bush makes any kind of misstatement, and that proves he is a dumbass.

Palin asks for clarification as to what Gibson is talking about in regards to the "Bush doctrine" (Gibson didn't even know what it was, and Bush himself has never enunciated such a doctrine) and she is clueless.

Yet, Hussein Osama talks about "57 states" and he is just tired.

Biden claims President Roosevelt gave a speech on television and you drop your pants and bend over to make excuses for him.

Do you realize how ridiculous you are?

Olbermann comes up at 8, so i guess you will be typing here with one hand for that hour.

Why is it that I always need to confront Republican advocates with fact?

                          Read it and weep, genius:

Franklin D. Roosevelt is remembered for his fireside chats. But how did this activity gain traction in the early 1900s. We take a comprehensive look.

Anything more to add? Didn't think so...

Joe Biden is a total lunatic wacko. He has also said in recent days that Hilary may have been a better choice for VP than himself. About a month ago he asked a wheelchair bound senator to stand up.

The guy is a walking disaster.

Looking back on it Hilary was probably the better choice. He won't win this election now. McCain is tied and ahead slightly ahead in many states, after blew 10/15 point leads all over the country. Obama is all done.

So if Biden misremembers something that happened 80 years ago, he's a moron.... yet when McCoot doesn't even know what country Putin is the CURRENT president of, it's OK? Isn't McCoot running on the strength of his foreign policy, yet does not know Iraq doesn't border Pakistan and that Iran does not train Al Qaeda? That does not bother you at all? I mean imagine McCoot invading Germany because Putin invaded Georgia.

You slandered a man because you were clueless about Roosevelts political career and when TVs were invented. Now you know you continue to slander him. Yet cry about Bush being made fun of? Uh maybe he really is an idiot????

The fact of the matter is, Governor Roosevelt talked about a lot of things on his radio show and you better believe he talked about the biggest story of the decade. He even predicted the collapse of the stock market. Now whether he spoke about it on TV is in dispute but not about FDR speaking out about it and leading our nation out of it.

I read it for myself and realize you are a dumbass. That Roosevelt gave fireside chats as Governor and as President (which everybody knows) has nothing to do with Biden's claims that Roosevelt clarified the '29 stock market crash to the public, either as Biden claimed on television, or as you claim on radio.

Stick to making bad bets, ok?

Once again, genius, the transcripts are in his Presidential library. Go look for yourself. It would be pretty far fetched of an idea that the Governor of New York would possibly discuss one of the most significant events in their lifetime out of the (at least) 39 radio addresses he gave during his 8-year governorship. Yes. That makes me a "dumbass" to believe a Democratic Senator may have read those transcripts and simply transposed the terms TV and radio. It was just a huge conspiratorial lie, wasn't it, ms61853? He has SO much to gain by making the whole thing up, doesn't he? Get a clue. Oh. And I'd love for you to try to outcap my computer programs long term, pal. Keep trying.

Its called the uneducated class of America for a reason. Good luck everyone. Back to work.

                                                          McCain/Palin 08

Television had actually been invented in the 1920s.

Didn't become popular, nor with any broadcast stations, until after WW Two.

Herbert Hoover, a Republican, was president when when the market crashed. But FDR was in office when a lot of the banks closed, etc.

He put through a bill that barred banks from also being stock brokers. Under Clinton, that was repealed - deregulation.

Both parties are owned by the global banks and corporations.
The bailout is stark proof of that.

And Biden, as usual, talks to much, running his fool mouth in all directions.

But at least he was never seen rolling on the floor, speaking in tongues, as Sarah was seen doing while a member of theWasilla Assemblies of God church, a Pentecostal branch much given to Holy Roller type of stuff.

Hey, Clinton also rolled on the floor in the Oval Office.

                                                          No big deal, right?

Let's take a recap of the Demtards defense here:

                                                                      - Biden never actually made the comment

                                                                      Yes he did

                                                                      - Television had been invented at that time (barely, in an early experimental stage) so since it's possible that Roosevelt made the speech on TV, it's reasonable to think he actually did so.

Too stupid to give credence to; better think of a better argument

                                                                      - Biden actually meant radio

And why would Governor Roosevelt be addressing the nation about the stock market crash? I guess it's possible, but no one has provided any evidence he actually did.

                                                                      - Well, Roosevelt made a lot of speeches and some of them were discussions of economics, so it's reasonable for Biden to say that Roosevelt discussed the factors causing the stock market crash on TV when he actually meant radio, and when there is no evidence such speech actually took place.

If that's the contortions you wish to make to defend your messiah's hired help

*YAWN* It's pretty simple to realize that he meant radio rather than television. As for evidence that FDR spoke about the stock market crash on the airwaves, I don't really care. I would be willing to bet that he did indeed speak about the crash in at least one of his 39 gubernatorial addresses on the radio. If you require proof, perhaps you should peruse the transcripts of those radio adresses which are located at his Presidential Library. Personally, I'll take Biden's word for it since the whole thing is completely insignificant. On the other side of the token, my vote is not swayed because McCain couldn't remember how many houses he owned or that Pakistan does not border Iraq. Keep flooding the forum with useless drivel and acting like it's a capital crime that a politician made a misstatement out of the thousands of things each says every week. It only makes you look like more of a clown...
