I dont see the problem... He plays up his emotion on the show, just like Skip Bayless does... To me, they both are 'characters' on first take.

When you see Stephen A On other shows, he doesnt act the same way as he does on First Take...

First take is a sports show for a specific type of fan. Watch Stephen A Smith on any other show before you start to judge him.

You're an idiot for starting this thread. He's one of about only five ESPN personalities that should actually hold a national job. ESPN First Take is unwatchable unless he's on. He's one of only a few ESPN drones that actually keeps it real.

If you watch/listen to ESPN and THIS is the guy you call out then you got issues pal.

Many ESPN college basketball games are unwatchable because of Dicky Vitale and/or Doris Burke. (I prefer to watch on mute)

ESPN radio shows like "Mike & Mike" are a disgrace. (But I'm sure you love 65% commercials, Lady Gaga & ABBA music in between segments, and vanilla commentary and humor)

Sportscenter loops for 15 hours a day showing results I already knew about the night before due to this thing called the internet)

And the place is littered with no talent ass clowns and has beens such as Skip Bayless. "Hey Eric Mangini just got fired from two teams in like 3 years and his players despised him, so ya let's go hire him as our "expert". "Hey let's talk Tebow for 90% of the show everyday"

Skip Bayless and the First Take producers are a disgrace

There are only a few things ESPN is still good for nowadays..

What I dont like about Stephen A Smith is that he gets over-excited on each topic...and he thinks he knows everything about basketball and football. He easily disregards other people's opinions and views. And he keeps shouting all the time...take a chill pill man. I used to like him before...but now he has just got annoying.

Also, dont forget his continuous personal insults of Skip Bayless on TV all the time...c'mon have some class for gods sake. I dont like skip ..but he has some class and never comes down to the level of smith in terms of insults.

No wonder ESPN kicked him out few years back....he will be gone soon again.

Not even close. Bayless makes the whole program unwatchable, and is easily the top douche on ESPN, and by a lot. Smith is just a talkin' head, bringing that FOX news mentality to that goddamn joke of a debate program.

Dan LeRetard is up there. That show of his is a goddamn abomination.
The whole first take crew.
Jim Rome (although not on ESPN) is fukkin terrible.
Dickey V is a douchenozzle on a planet all his own.
The list goes on, and Smith might be on it, but he is more honorable mention than headlining it.

only show i can watch on espn, i like how they get really into it and use ANYTHING to make the other look stupid. It's much more about TV, people, and arguing that it is about sports really. It's dumb how they shout and make faces, but it's better than mike and mike somehow.
