6-0 in NBA Today. Guranteed 9-0 tomorrow. Tail me
Sorry for the terribly misleading title..
Well, wasn't completely misleading.. I just need a little help backtesting my theory..

Not too familiar with backtesting and where I could find individual quarter total lines for each game. Can anyone help me with this?

My theory is with games having totals ranging from 184.5-195.5 throw one unit on the under in the first quarter. If you lose, keep doubling up every quarter until the under finally hits.

Theory would have been 2-0 today.. Would have been 6-0 if I played every game.. But I feel playing between the line of 184.5-195.5 is much safer

Ya know this really isn't the worse idea I've heard. I mean yeah I'm sure u lose some games but I would think this wins more than 80% of the time.

Normally I'm not thrilled with these types of proposals. But this one has me intrigued.

Click the live odds page here at sbrforum.

Navigate your way using the drop-down boxes. You will see that 5dimes and a couple others show the totals your looking for. I don't know when they allow you to bet those lines. Probably at the end of the quarter "live betting" I guess.

Interesting theory. Scoring has been weird in the NBA lately. I have been avoidign the U/O plays. But I might reconsider using your theory.

Sounds good in theory, but none of the books I use (heritage, 5D, etc) post 2nd qtr lines after game has started. Same with 4th qtr lines after halftime has ended. So I dont see how you could wager on 2nd qtr if 1st qtr was a loser. Furthermore, if I wager 3rd qtr at halftime and it loses, I then have no way to double up on 4th qtr.

I've only ever seen all qtrs posted up until game time. Then 3rd & 4th quaters posted at Halftime. Also the lines that are posted at haltime are obviously re-adjusted at halftime based on the game flow up to that point.

So taking OP's idea in a vacuum with original posted lines sounds intriguing. But when you factor in that wagering 2nd and 4th qtr lines while game is in live action will be an issue for most US players and the fact that odds are re-adjusted 3rd and 4th where original lines arent necessarily taken into account, but the flow of the game is, I dont see this being feasible.

Just go to the casino and double up on red until it hits.

No, actually your green because you're playing at Sportsbook. Next time, instead of depositing at sportsbook just give me half the money you planned on depositing, I'll kick you in the nuts, and will call it a day. Atleast this way you can atleast keep half your money, and it will be a less painful experience then trying to w/d from sportsbook.

But to answer your question, once a game goes into halftime books will then hang revised 2nd half/3rd qtr/4th qtr lines for you to wager. Once halftime ends all those options are taken off board and generally there is no more wagering the rest of the game unless the game is avail for live wagering (which is just about non-existent for US players anymore).

The book I use is Belmont. They offer live quarter betting on jut about every game..

Anyways, just wanted to add that I tweaked the system a little bit before I start using it. The tweaks I made are as follows:

                      1. Lines from 175-189.5 are what we will use
                      2. We will be using plays where the public is on the under.

Using plays where the public is on the under benefits us.. For example, let's say the first quarter line of a game is 47.5 and the total at the end of the first quarter is 54. Vegas knows the mindset of the normal tilt bettor will then be "Uh oh, the game is on pace for over, I better hedge as soon as possible. So Vegas will likely inflate the lines, knowing that people are going to attempt to hedge. This definitely favors our play on unders

"that dude" James Jones was selling a similar system - not sure if he still is but it was the same theory. Don't know how it did.
