Two reasons: Peyton was scared of the SB or bust pressure if he went to SF. He chose the money in Denver rather then what was best for his football career. Its that simple.
Disappointing

True.
He'd look like a fool if he did no better than Alex Smith.
But what is going to do in Denver....win 10 games and lose to the Patriots in the Playoffs???

When you think of Lebrons decision...Peytons "decision" should not even come to mind.
Lebron had it all set up with him and his pals to go hang out and play some hoops.
Peyton was released from his team and picked a new one what, 2 weeks later? We have no idea what was best for his football career, he stayed in the AFC so he doesn't have to face his brother in the NFC.

comparing peyton to lebrick is retarded.
peyton wanted to remain in indy and even had his personal doctors clear him to play in feb. but colts released him cause they did not want to pay the $28 million roster bonus.
and peyton has 96 million reasons why he made the right choice.

Actually he was classy enough not to drag it on for longer than it had to. He also called teams he knew he wouldn't sign with to let them personally know of his decision as soon as he ruled them out.

top fukkin notch guy.
It's doubtful anything will ever go down as brutal as Lebrons thing...I didn't think it was bad, but never seen any type of circus like that before in my life....Dwight Howard may possibly rival Lebrons antics.

OP,
your an eagles fan so I'll take it easy on you but...
He could of got much more $$$ elsewhere, Tennessee offered him the hole fukkin franchise....
Also it's just ridiculous to compare to LeBron, he handled all this with complete professionalism (as always) and didn't have an hour long espn show.
And he did it a timely fashion...
I think he made the right choice...
Denver wins that division going away...
I would of liked to see him go to KC, but w/e...

he's right, peyton is a pussy for not wanting to win a super bowl, and afraid of failing to get it.
Any claim he had as a #1 QB is gone.

What was said here. The 2 situations could NOT be any more different. One was handled with class and one was handled with none and staying in the AFC may very well give him his best chance to win.

Its disappointing. I am a Peyton fan. He is the best qb I have ever seen play (the last 30 years). Bc of his lack of rings, he will never go down as the best. He chose the money that Denver was offering. That team is much more then a QB away from being a legit superbowl contender any time soon. The pressure of going to a team like SF or Houston was too much for him. Now he will just be in Elways shadow. I dont blame him for taking the money and run.... just disappointed to see it.

Instead he did what most other athletes do-- chose money and less pressure
Lebron did it the wrong way... I will agree to that. But the guy took less money and took on the pressure and guaranteed rings as a "team". He went about it wrong.. but its rare to see an athlete give up money for the sake of winning.

Why are you so sold that Denver can't win a super bowl? They went to the second round in the playoffs w/ TEbow and have a top 5 defense...
They also play one of the weakest divisions....
I think they have as good a chance as anyone else to win the SB

I know, and I don't think Manning thinks he can't win a superbowl in Denver. The reason he won't go to san fran is because they are in the NFC, and as stated, he doesn't want to play against his brother in the playoffs. Neither one would want to be the reason another can't get to the superbowl.

Finally someone that knows football Dlunc not sure about. But of course he is a Eagals fan so can't expect to much out of him. Denver made it to second round of playoffs why because of Tebow . No because of a very solid defense. You put Payton Manning on that team now they have as good as chance as any team especially in the AFC to make the super bowl. Steelers and Pats all getting older who knows with those 2 teams. Texans is everyone's pick but till i see Schaub or Andre Johnson ever make it thru a season without a injury don't think there chances are great either. Denver has some good young wideouts. Will see what they do in free agency. But there defense is one of the best in the game kept Denver in alot of games while Tebow threw for about 90 to 100 yards in games. Great posts by the way Louisville kid your cards lookin great in the tourney. Watched them in Portland had tickets alot of great fans at the games. Not to mention hot chicks.

????
That defense is garbage... they have a few big name players and that is it. #24 in points allowed last yr and #20 in total yards.
Teams with a real qb did whatever they wanted vs this defense... Rodgers: 49, Stafford: 45, Brady: 41 and 45... even Ponder put up 32 and Fitzpatrick 40... Top 5 defenses are not allowing 40+ points to be scored on a regular. The d played decent on occasion playing off the "tebow" adrenaline... No chance are they top 5 though.
Take a look at Denvers schedule next yr.. They will be lucky to make the playoffs IMO.
This move makes no sense from a football perspective.

Solid defense?
45 to NE
41 to NE
40 to BUF
32 to MIN
45 to DET
49 to GB
93.1 QB rating against them. 28th in the league.
30th in the NFL in takeaways.
SOLID.

Peyton already won everything you can win in the NFL, and has records that nobody will touch. Been to the SB and won and lost, just like Brady, Ben, Elway and so on.
Worse than LeBron... Peyton didn't have a tv special did he to announce that it was Denver and not SF or Titans. Peyton should apologize for not being sincere in telling the fans, his teammates, coaches, etc goodbye & what an honor it was to play for&with them... etc, oh....wait, he did JUST THAT.

Dude, tebow gave opposing teams so many possessions with all those 3 and outs, it gave them more oppurtunites to score... Not to mention not being able to move the ball and control field position...
Also Defense was exhausted at times from always being on the field...
Wait and see this defense this year, stop looking at stats so much and watch the games...
Dumervill and Miller are two of the top pass rusher's in the league...
