Ratings are not accurate, but books factor it into their lines? Contradictory posts.

Congrats on SBR by the way. Fantastic site. Loving it!
Almost every college assistant and head coach would not pay for his ratings if they were not useful.
His metrics are based on a large number of runs. Overtime his system is very effective.
If you were to follow his rankings from when he began and used his rankings on the NCAA winner you would be ahead.
I know I won my bracket thanks to him 2 years ago.
It is also huge to look at trends to see peaking teams offensively and defensively.
For Example I pressed my action on Wisconsin and Purdue as both were moving quickly in offense and defense respectively when those teams are known to have strong points the other way.
I think it is how you use the numbers.

If you're not at least looking at his free stuff (and this is at the VERY least) then you're already behind.

Um, yes he does. He is not against talking about it openly in his blog either.

can't believe that this is a serious question. why bother betting college hoops if you're not willing to pay 20 bucks/year for ken pom?

here's what I don't get:
kenpom has kept Texas ranked pretty high through the first few weeks despite the fact that Texas has been terrible. Loss to Chaminade, loss to USC, getting blown out by Georgetown..

Was actually thinking this as well and almost pulled the trigger on +6
Glad I stayed away, granted it is early in the season and he had UK very high to start but has tumbled now (for good reason)
