I believe it. I parlayed Missouri ML -10000, Kansas ML and Mich St ML for $5000. Sounds crazy, but I have have been making a lot with these types of bets. She probably viewed it more as a guaranteed $500, rather than only $500 and that is more than most clowns in this forum ever profit in one day. South Florida ML just recovered most of my funds.

I have no problem believing someone would make such a bet. The only weird part is that they got such horrible odds (compared to what was available). So it was probably an inexperienced gambler or desperate degenerate with only 1 out.

Whether or not this story is real, which does not matter at all (I'm sure even more money has been risked for a small amount- though it is maniacal- but isn't gambling in general crazy to some extent?), I think your perception of the situation is an interesting one. Yes, the people in the world of high finance do not suffer consequences for "no-no trading activity," except for a few SEC scapegoats here and there to make it look like they are doing something, and yes the people who crush it, insider trade (this is probably so abundant).

At 10,000 to 1 or 5,000 to 1 whatever the favorite amount was, there is always the chance for it to backfire. Even the Wall St. big wigs go bust on a big play for a small gain from time to time. But if they wanted a rush, why not go heli-skiing, rock climbing, etc. You could get off with that for 45,000-40,000 less.

So the story is not important to me per se, whether it happened or not, but the moral is a good one next time I think about clicking a 10,000 to 1 or 5,000 favorite into a parlay. There isn't any fking value. And even if there were, and it were straight bets, is this "person" going to ride out the variance by plugging away at another 9,999 50k flats to try and get the ship right? Fk that. This better would have to risk 5 mil once, or 50k a hundred times without a loss, to get that 50k back at -10000.

its just a good friend of mine high up at a big book, people bet 50K all the time, it's just interesting that it was at such huge and bad odds on a game like that, and then it happened to be on that game that actually lost

All of the Caesars properties in state of Nevada lost around 600k combined on Friday and were down again going into late games last night. Duke, St. Mary, Memphis, ND were all big public late games, so I'm sure they made money yesterday.

Wynn was down a decent chunk Thurs and did well yesterday.
