I only watch series that get cancelled. It's uncanny. The shows that go on awhile, I never watch. If I get into a show, it's a lock to be cancelled.

I just saw this story. Damn it. This show was solid. Of course PETA started the whole thing. Don't know what happened to horses two and three, but the first apparently suffered a fracture during a race sequence and had to be put down.

they didnt need those horse racing scenes, they are not necessary at all

they can just show clips of previously run races and get the same effect

The racing scenes were pivotal to a lot of the story for this show. You can't just cut away to some random race and get the same feeling they got with the way they shot things. I'm treating this like I do with other shows they cancel during the season, fukk watching the rest of it because it's pointless now.

In a statement, a spokesman says, "Peta is glad that Hbo has finally decided to cancel the show. We thank the whistleblowers who refused to let these horses' deaths go unnoticed. Should Milch, Mann, and Hbo decide to start the series up again, Peta will be calling on them, as we have done from the start, to use stock racing footage instead of endangering horses for entertainment purposes.

Horses love to run and sometimes they break down. I am a horse racing guy and have seen it happen at the track for years. To cancel a show because of 3 break downs makes me furious

I wondered if they were hiding behind the ratings. They keep saying critically acclaimed however the ratings have not been that great. It does take time to develop story lines though

Show got cancelled cause ratings went down to 600k.
16 horses died at Aqueduct Racetrack in NY the last few months.
Hard to understand what the actors were saying for non gamblers.
They also put the wrong saddle # during the pick six race in the first episode Anyone catch that ? It was an 8 horse race yet the 10 horse was racing SMH..
