Highschool backetball game (girls) ends 17-6

If asked to guess, most people would probably bet that a state championship tilt with a final score of 16-7 was contested in football or boys or girls lacrosse. Field hockey, baseball and softball might get some minority votes as well. But basketball? That seems completely out of the question. Incredibly, that 16-7 scoreline was exactly what was served up in Oregon on Saturday, where Springfield (Ore.) High's girls basketball team outlasted the Eugene (Ore.) Willamette High girls by nine points in the lowest scoring state title game at any level of Oregon basketball, be it boys or girls. Continue reading →

How embarrassing they even waste those girls' time practicing and giving them uniforms.

When you consider the skill level probably not all that much worse then the Wisconsin / Penn State game last year... There was another low scoring game this year in college basketball but I can't remember which game...

Coach is a douche. Its the final and you tell your players not to play.

Some states do use one now... Pretty stupid not to IMO...

Without a shot clock there are plenty of situations when you should be telling your players to play slow and shoot extremely selective... I went watched some of the state championship games here last weekend and was actually surprised at the number of the times teams kept up a fast pace when clearly the correct decision would have been to play at a snail's pace...

not a bad strategy really. He couldve been up 2 or 3 to 0 at the half. If the other team doesnt score on thier first possesion, you force them to foul to get the ball back.
