Detroit Lions president matt millen said yesterday that he doesn't worry about the team's 0-2 start and neither should fans.
"Stay the course," millen told reporters at the lions' Allen Park training facility. "It's a little bump. It's not like you have to panic. You don't have to make whholesale changes. You don't have to do all that stuff. It's all right there."
The lions are 31-83 since millen became team president in 2001. The team has come under steady criticism at every level - from owner William Clay Ford down to Millen, coach Rod Marinelli, his assistants, and the players - and Millen defended them all.
"The guys who are out here are here for a reason. I believe in the guy I hired. I believe in the staff we put together, and I believe in the players we have on the field. And if you want to point the finger at any of that stuff, that's on me. I'm fine with that because I believe in whats out there. Nothing else needs to be said."
Asked if it has taken to long to build a winning team, Millen said: "From since I'm here, sure. Yeah. Obviously. But like I said earlier, I'm the one who hired the guy, and I believe in him 100 percent."
Ford, Millen said, "asks all the right questions. Let's just leave it at that."
