Just wondering what people think about this
Saw a horse which seemed a good bet at 8/1. Tried to place a bet on it, but had no funds in my account. Selected to deposit the right amount and place the bet instantly, but presumably while that was happening, the market went to SP. Without advising me that the odds had changed, I found my bet placed at SP, which I wouldn't have accepted, given the choice.
Emailed, asking to void the bet (this was still a good 20 minutes before the race) but heard nothing back.
Horse lost the race.
After the race, I got an email back saying I should have rung if I wanted the bet voided as their emails are busy (1. I couldn't find a CS number anywhere on the site, 2. For personal reasons I don't use the phone if possible) but they could put a note on the bet for it to be settled at 8/1.
I've replied saying I'd like my bet voided, according to the original request made before the race, and mentioned they implied it was possible to have bets voided by contacting CS.
Haven't heard back yet after about an hour.
I think by CS not contacting me until after the result was known, I was in a no-win situation - had the horse won, they could have voided and stated I requested the void. However, since it lost, they've simply offered to regrade the bet to losing at different odds.
However, I'm hardly an unbiased party. Anyone else have any opinions?
