They are playing for regular season acc championship. Roy Williams always says the regular season championship means a lot more to him than the acc tournament.

If Duke wins, it could probably cement them as a #1 seed regardless of next week's ACC Tourney result.

If NC wins, I think which ever team goes deeper in the ACC Tourney gets the #1 seed (assuming both don't go out on Friday).

Like the original poster, Roy is much more focused on the ACC regular season title than the ACC Tourney title (has referenced it as a cocktail party before and generally has downplayed it's importance in relation the the NCAA Tourney).

I hate to say it but it is a nothing game.
As far a s I can see, most of the opinions in this thread which try to argue that this game has value rely on fairly intangible advantages.
#1 seed? #2 seed? in the ACC
#2 Seed? #3 Seed? in the Dance.
Regular Season Championship?
Final Four appearance?

I dont think this game factors into any of this. The team that commits the least amount of unforced errors & turnovers will take this game. Duke has been their own worst enemy this year. N.C. suffers from the same problem but, have seemed to cope with this much better throughout the season.

I like Duke but, would dare lay a dime on either team.

The Covers fade is 5 for 5 today (Pitt, Wash, NW, Vandy, Louisville) on games they pimped, and where their consensus heavily followed and/or the line movement. 2 games left, as they had 7 total for the day. 1 is this one, where you've seen the line/money move heavily on NC from a pick to -2.5, so back NC at your own peril.
