#4While I think Ellis is one of the more under rated guys out there its going to take a lot more than him I think. Howard is going to be a free agent, free and clear to go anywhere he wants. getting Monte Ellis isnt going to be nearly enough.
While I am all for small market teams being competitive we will see in a few years how that is going to fail miserably. If there are only 8 or so teams in the league that make a profit fine be a collective and just share everything. Big city teams will always get the big city names. Once Durant wakes up and realizes he is in OKC he wont be there long, so then youll have westbrook and a bunch of scrubs and Durant will be in one of the major cities playing. Same as Erving once he does his probation in Cleveland and every other young guy who fulfills their rookie deals.
The fact that Howard and James and a few others resigned once is a miracle. Once these guys get big ideas they look for the best place. To me Orlando isnt a horrible place, but its got a weird vibe, old people and tourists. it isnt 'sexy' like Miami, or cool like New York, hard core like Chicago, sheik like L.A., or racist like Boston. Its a hard sell, but since he is already there he should really be trying to recruit guys himself if he really wants to stay. Thing is other cities with more to offer and more money and more talent are more attractive, so these small market teams even with a well established guy are behind the ball from jump street.Comment -

#7neither do the lakers but people expect them to magically become contenders as well.Originally posted by zsrThey have no assets to trade
They turned down the most talented guy they could hope to get, and for only a conditional pick which isnt going to e all that great anyway. So the excuse will be they were leery of the off the court stuff the truth is theyre looking to dump salary and rebuild once Kobe leaves or retires and start fresh.
IMO thats a good plan and one I have advocated for awhile. Thats stll at least two more years though so it will get worse before it gets better I am sure.
But it isnt always about trades, lakers got a lot of guys for free simply because hey wanted to go play here. hasnt happened so much since kobe has been running the show but it has happened. so orlando has to somehow hope they get a fee agent or maybe a team with a few nice expiring contracts to deal with them in their own salary dump dance. How about gasol to orlando and not for howard? Prob cant work because gasol is grossly overpaid. Which like I have said makes hiim nearly untradeable.
I hope howard stays there, I get sick of seeing these guys leave a place they have tried to build and chase something, it rarely works. Boston did it and thats about it. Miami may do it but that is still no real guarantee at least with the original big 3, and since theyre all short termers too they could up and all go somewhere else themselves like they went to miami.
thats why the NBa in general is ajoke. they say all these things and lock guys out to change policy and it is business as usual.Comment -

#8A top 5 PF. the 2nd best center in the league. 2 1st round picks in a loaded draft....You don't understand what 'assets' are.Originally posted by wantitall4moineither do the lakers but people expect them to magically become contenders as well.
Oh, and if the Lakers can't pull off a big PG trade, i can't wait until they get Ramon Sessions for Mcroberts and a 1st rounder. You should be embarrassed about your commentary on that situation.Comment -

#11who would the magic give for ellis? ... anderson reddick and nelson id imagine would be the only thing that golden state would want and than you only have dwight and ellis which is a first round loss... dwight leaves anyway, he wants a big market, im a nets fan and trying not to be biased but he will be in NY to start the season in brooklyn.. everything will be lined up for him there and he chris brussard said it today, dwight howard would prefer to come at the end of the season. a core of deron dwight morrow brooks and MAYBE lopez if he would take less money.Comment -

#12LMAO and you dont know anything. if they have a top 5 guy why trade him? What are they going to get that is better than him? Second best center, debatable but for sake of argument why trade him either?Originally posted by Tree RollinsA top 5 PF. the 2nd best center in the league. 2 1st round picks in a loaded draft....You don't understand what 'assets' are.
As far as draft picks go everyone gets at least one so they only have one extra one. Semantics maybe, but if Lakers make play offs that means theirs is probably around 18-20 which keeps it in line with the one they got from Dallas which is protected so If Dallas does well it will be right at number 20.
Since like I said gasol salary makes him basically untradeable then what? Trade him away for a couple average guys whose salaries match up? Or just hold onto him and hope?
Lakers are in a bad spot. While draft picks might seem like a big deal not when theyre that low down the line.
Like I said their truest and best option to get better and to help the future s to trade Kobe. Again not sure if he has a no trade or not. But I suspect it could get embarrassing if they did try and legitimately throw him out there and they got no offers or offers ridiculously low for him. But more than likely realistic ones. But his salry also makes him untradeable. Lakers over paid a bunch of guys and the new CBA killed them.
If they have to share the TV deal theyre worse off than they ever have been money wise.Comment -

#13There is no use arguing with you anymore because every single thing you've said about the lakers had ended up being wrong, but for some reason you still think you know more than everybody.

#14you guys really are dumb, or just like taking shit out of context. I said they wanted to dump Gasols salary, the guy they really want is sessions so they have to work some sort of deal to get rid of gasol and get sessions, I am sure it will involve a number of teams and session to the lakers would be the main ingredient, they obviously get more than him for gasol the salaries dictate that. But if/when thye trade gasol dont be surprised if I am right again and what they get back is a bunch of scrubs that makes them worse not better, at leas short term.Originally posted by zsrI think wantiall saying the lakers would have to trade pau to acquire sessions might be his stupidest comment yet.
And thats saying something.
Just like I was right about them getting beasley.
s Is aid if I had to take a guess I think lakers want session and that guy coming back to the nuggets for gasol. Not sure if tht is close enough under the rules or not but something that involves hose two guys, if they have to throw in the first rounder they saved on beasley to get a third guy sobeit.
But more than likely they dont do anything they sign arenas and Wallace go through the motions, maybe make an 8 seed and get bounced.
Either lakers have a mega blockbuster deal in the works or they have nothing and go down in flames.
Orlando has a few guys, not sure they can really work a deal, bu since the league is rigged I am sure any deal to keep a big name guy in orlando will get approved, but even so unless they sign howard first they still have nothing, and I doubt he signs anything. So orlando has to be careful because if they trade a bit for Elis and Howard doesnt stay then what? They have a shitty first round pick and a bunch of scrubs with Ellis. make it a good bet next year for ellis to be scoring champ but thats about it.Comment -
