When he was running a 4.3 40 he couldn't play and throw as well as he could before he learned how to be a pocket passer. Being the fastest player on the team and the qb is a detriment to your team unless you are in high school.

I heard the same thing..when you watch some of his long scrambles you can see most of the dbs could not catch him

Doubtful he was white. All that running and now he can't complete a sentence. Imagine how dominate the 9ers really would've been if they had rules in place to protect the QB like they do today. Especially with the helmet to helmet bullshit.

someone on yahoo sports was saying he ran a 4.3 (stopwatch) which would be like a 4.45 with the new timing system. so probably not the fastest but maybe top 5 even

Ricky waters was faster but not as smart. One practice Ricky was talking smack and steve said, 'okay, ill race you from sideline to sideline, and ill even backpedal'. Ricky stopped before the first hash mark and Steve trotted by.
