Okay well had under 4.5 sacks and with 30 secs left I thought there were only 3 sacks, they sack the QB naturally with like 18 secs left and that made 4 sacks then clock runs out, come to find out it's scored as 5 sacks even though 1 of those was offset b/c he pulled the QB down by the facemask getting a 15 yrd personal foul penalty, what a fukin joke. If the guy rips the QB down by his face mask how is that a sack?

When the ball carrier is tackled by the facemask, play stands and then the 15 yard penaly is enforced. The sack counts.

There should be a provision in the rules where a call can be made that the sack wouldn't have occurred if not for the facemask, therefore negating the sack. I didn't see the play in question. Was it just the facemask that brought him down, or did someone have another paw on him?
