Since 2000, only two winners - Steve Fisher (SD State 2010) and Phil Martelli (St.Joe's) did not come from a "power conference."

I think the top two prices are appropriate considering what the teams have accomplished. I was surprised that Izzo hasn't won the award before. I think if State wraps up the Big 10 and beats Ohio State again, he might get it.

Frank Haith is a close 2nd, but might get overlooked by a couple losses here late in the season.

I'd say Brey is a dark horse with some juice. That team has no so great talent, but he's turned them into a competitive team that handed Syracuse their only loss.

Brey deserves it because he has the least talent to work with among the top 4 favorites. Izzo is my second choice. Calipari should not even be considered, some random SBR posters can coach Kentucky and win. I don't think Haith has done much either, except he deserves credit for allowing the players to play and not over-coaching them.

Indeed. If the award were actually given for what the name of the award implies, Brey is a no brainer because Notre Dame really is a bunch of hacks that have been thrown into a cohesive unit somehow. I think Haith would have won it if Mizzou didn't choke @ KU. I still think Izzo gets it if State hangs on, which I think they will. I also think Bill Self doesn't get any credit for what he's done with Kansas this year. Lots of turnover on that team and he kept them in the driver's seat all year.

Prohm, Brey, Izzo, Majerus, and maybe Bennett should be the top 5. I like Brey to win it, but don't discount what Rick Majerus has done in a short span of time and how much better Izzo has MSU playing
