Just heard Steve Lavin say he inherited 10 seniors on radio. How does that happen? Isn't there a limit as too how many players you can bring in per year? Help me understand this.

Transfer, scholarship, walk ons, red shirts, medical exception.

Crazy to have that many but it is possible it seems.

              Walk-ons are not on scholarship.

I don't think so but I knew a couple of walk ons that became part of the suited up team in there senior year and that did inflate the senior number at first glance. But 10 is still an awful lot.

So walk ons can count towards the roster count even though they are not on scholorship?

If there are scholarships available, sometimes walk ons will be given a scholarship. according to wikipedia, the limit is 13 scholarship players for mens basketball. It's not inconceivable to think a bad team like st johns having 10 seniors. 4 transfers, 3 4th year seniors, 3 5th year seniors. or some other mix.
