Isn't it stupid that state legislatures can just hand over tax payer dollars without a voting referendum to billionaires like Carl Pohlad who owns the Twins as a hobby. Some kid with a paper route making $40 a week is forced to pay a tax to a player making 10 mill a year everytime he buys an ice cream cone.

I say the teams should run like public companies selling shares and having a balance sheet where stadiums are paid for by investors and where investors collect a dividend. If it turns out where a player making 15 mill a year now makes 3 million because the bottom line free market balance sheet says that's what's in the budget to pay him after investors get paid back so be it.

Why don't obnoxious we know what's best for everyone fans who want stadium welfare for teams put their money where their mouths are and plunk down 10 or 20K to buy stock in a team-stadium.Why should a supreme A hole like Steinbrenner get stadium welfare like he's some freeloading queen of England.

Hellyes. I've said that for years.

I'm as big of sports fan as anyone. But, it's not about sports, it's about business.

Why does every team need a new stadium anyway?

I don't feel like typing alot right now and get into all the logisitcal points and all of that, but just wanted to say I agree and there are many, many reasons why this should be true.

I'm sick of the threatening argument made by owners saying they "have to move the team if there is not a deal in place". How many times have you heard that sentence. it is such BS from a business perspective. Not to mentuion, it is usually someone saying it that has over 1 billion dollars LIQUID in the bank.

I agree though. Why tax everyone in the city for this. it doesn't stop at stadiums either. It's the way this country is ran and YES I COULD DO IT MUCH BETTER.

      They are owned by shareholders.

Thats right. i forgot about that.

How exactly does that work. I didn't think they were owned by shareholders per se, but they are in a ay, correct with the coity of Green Bay owning the majority.

How did that come to be though? Thatr probably happened before i was born so I'm not familiar with that.

          BrentCrude,

You can trade sports teams like stocks. Website is called

It's pretty cool. I am learning but it is real fun. Kinda like betting futures a little bit except you can get out of your bet at any time. Stock or team goes up with wins and goes down with losses.......
