Anyone listen to bob valvano on espn radio
he is on nights, usually on the weekend, he is jim valvano's brother. His wife left him and he has been depressed and even suicidle. Sad stuff. He is my fav guy on espn. If you don't stay up late you probaly don't know him. Espn has kept him busy this season doing live games. He has wild facebook and twitter posts and then usually deletes them the next day.

Here is one of his posts from today

I will erase this by morning when I come to my senses I am sure, but until then...
As someone who strives to be in touch with his inner child, the fear at this moment is that perhaps the connection is too great, and tonight that inner child is afraid, and alone, and unsure, and hurt, and ill equipped for the sadness the adult world has dealt this day...
When the questions are unanswerable, the ground seemingly too unshakable even upon which to stand, the guilt, and pain, the uncertainty, and enormity of it all is too much to bear...
These words are their outlet, the inner child's attempt to put all the blocks in a row, and by giving words to deep colors of the most primal emotion, create a sense of order amidst the chaos, of structure amidst the ruins, and for the moment at least, even if it is only an illusion, build a perceivable path, one that leads to hopefulness...
    Heavy, heavy day...

Bob should listen to the words of his brother-- "Never give up, you must never give up"

Maybe he should spend time with Jimmy V's kids who are adults or his widow. I totally understand about a depressing situation and how it can be demoralizing and you have nowhere to turn and feel helpless. Things aren't always the way that you want them to be but that's when he and other people need to resist the urge of hopelessness. What separates the successful or content people with the people that live in sorrow is the ability to fight the good fight and pursue happiness even though the "odds" seem overwhelming. I bet Gary Carter's family wished that he was around. I'm sure the 86 Mets heckeled Gary for his overly positive attitude.

This guy has a nice job that people would die for. Hopefully he can get his mind outside of his job in order. I'm sure that the Valvano's have been through enough. He owe's it to himself and them.
