#4im my opinion, its like anything else. it gets old fast unless u ABSOLUTELY have a passion for it. ur gonna do things u didnt think u would have to do but in the long run it will probably be worth it if u truly love it. i know he loves it but he is consummed by his job for sure. he has great perks though, free cars (has contracts with companys) free gas.... free food pretty much where evere he is working at.... tickets to all games... etc etcComment -

#5Good point... i could just as easily work in the financial industry and get off on weekends to go WATCH sports versus working it...Comment -

#11I represented a former college football player and got him a contract with a semi-pro rugby league team in Australia. Also was a beat writer for some crappy site called fanstop.com when I was in middle school, but that wasn't really serious.Comment -

#16You'd be better served working in the general marketplace. There are plenty of sports-related companies that you could pursue a career with. Since pro teams don't have to do a great deal of marketing, perhaps apparel or equipment companies would be an option. They would certainly devote more manpower to marketing and advertising than the pro teams. Much of their marketing is handled by the league offices, I believe. If marketing is your endeavor, I'd look to Nike, Rbk, Under Armor, Gatorade, etc. If you'd like to do more in the way of finance, I'd be looking for an options market maker position or a less risky brokerage position.Comment -

#18You'd more than likely have to clerk at an options firm for a while before being able to trade, however.Comment -

#20Yeah. Those are decent positions as well. If you're going to do something along those lines, I'd suggest a paid internship at a bank while you're still in school. It's an excellent experience to put on your resume. My brother did a commercial lending analyst internship at a bank while he was in school and it opened a lot of doors for him after graduation. He went on to trade options on the CBOE and now works as an analyst for a major hedge fund.Comment -
