Playing some very good ball lately. 13-2 over there last 15 games, sweeping the Cubs and Cardinals over that span.

I'm afraid to play them right now and jinx their run. Best record in the majors since the break (35-16). Still going to be extra tough for them to make the October schedule.

Willie, I'm amazed that they are in the wildcard chase. I had them dead in early August. Ed Wade looks like genius now for that Randy Wolf trade which had everyone scratching their head at the time. Gotta give that dude some props.

Phillies and Brewers will be playing each other over the weekend so hopefully they split and the Stros can gain more ground.

Blue Jays tied a major league record by winning 10 games in a row against teams with a winning record.

I posted about them in July. When they look back on this season they had that one horrible span where they were like 3-18 that started the very day they got to .5 a game out of 1st. 3 weeks later they were 10 out. Its a scrappy team and a VERY easy schedule from here on in.

The Wolf deal got my dander up mainly because the way the club tried to sell it. There was no doubt that adding him to the rotation brought depth to the starters, but there was also no reason to think that he was really going to pitch as well as he has. The bullpen has also been very solid since early August, and adding LaTroy Hawkins provided depth to that group.
But look at how some of the hitters have also stepped up. Ty Wiggington really answered the call right after Carlos Lee went down, Geoff Blum and Darin Erstad have gotten some key hits, and Lance Berkman -- following a pretty slow July -- started to hit again.
It's still going to be very, very tough for them to make October since they just don't get a shot at either Milwaukee or Philly the rest of the way. But so far, my over 73½ on the Astros is the only futures ticket I got back when I picked up some MLB futures in January and March that I know is going to cash.

They are on fire, what a turnaround.
Before I go into work, I throw a small amount on them. Yeah its a positive. I'll probably throw a unit on them again for the run line.
I guess I'm turning into a little run line whore, lately.

If it will make you feel any better, 5T, I'd love to see the Astros meet the Blue Jays in the Series.

The reason why the Blue Jays aren't being mentioned is because they are in the toughest division in baseball. They are also trailing the Red Sox, who are very very good. The Stros are trailing the sputtering Cubs and Brewers.

Actually, we're trailing the Brewers and tied with the Phillies for the Wild Card. Don't think there will be much mention of catching the Cubs for the division, currently an 8½-game gap, with just 16 games left. If the Blue Jays had just four games to make up on the Red Sox, instead of seven, they might be getting more attention.

They're doing it again, and Roy Oswalt is trying to pull an Orel Hershiser 1988 on us I think.

The Brewers are in world of hurt now with two teams nipping at their heels. The fact that the Phils and Brewers are playing each other could be a good thing for the Stros. They could pick up a game or two if they keep winning and the Brewers only win a game or two in Philly.
