    very true

Pirates wouldn't even have to pay half of AJ's salary.

i'm ready to get rid of Jones. I'll take Nick Evans, Matt Hague, Mcghee, jake fox and whatever other mix is around there for the next year

No he is not. He was careless in NY because he got paid already. Going to the Pirates actually humbled him and made him realize he's not on a free ride no more. Time to start earning back his reputation, it's not like the Yankees going to throw more cash at him again.

I'm not sure AJ thinks he is gonna pitch past this contract, anyways. But yeah the Enigmatic part was the 2 inning 12 run debacle, sprinkled into some very strong starts.

Horrible stuff last night, but he roughed it out. Great job by gm to put a staff together. Too bad he can't find a hitter to save his life.

take Pirates as a slight dog (+104ish) at most books....

                Burnett, should go 7.2 with 11 SO's 6 hits allowed and 2 ER's

Pirates have won the game the last 10 games AJ Burnett has started.

Burnett has given up 2 runs or less in 10 of his 13 starts
Burnett has given up 3 runs exactly in 2 of his 13 starts
Burnett has given up 12 runs in exactly 1 of his 13 starts

take that one bad start out, and the dude has a 2.27 ERA.

at the age of 35 do we really think he is gonna have a career year?

time to start the FADE AJ TRAIN!

                            quote after today's win

Here's what he had to say to Dejan Kovacevic after today's game:

"I'm proud to take the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates. I'm proud, man. I'm proud to pitch for these players, these fans, this city. They're bringing it out of me. I could ... I'm not really going to do a very good job of putting this into words. This just all makes me proud to be a Pittsburgh Pirate."

Got to admit I faded Burnett like crazy last couple years and started off doing the same this year and he fukked me over 4 of 5 games and then I decided to jump on the train and haven't been disappointed in a while. He's had a great start this year.

This team is starting to have a San Francisco Giants 2010 - albeit maybe a B- version of that team - type of vibe. Great pitching. Offense isn't much, but somehow they seem to score enough runs and in the last couple weeks - have laid out some big numbers. The difference obviously being that no one thought the Pirates were going to contend at any point this season.

There pitching has been great as a team. Who thought Burnett and McDonald were going to be one of best pitching duos in NL to start this year? Hard to argue there numbers. Now with Pirates actually scoring more than 3runs a game they could surprise a few people down the stretch

All the bats have been hot since june. almost all of them, and some super hot. that won't last.

best offensive team in the last 5-6 weeks.
