Leafy, tell your roomy to post from the deep web (aka darknet). Half the time your IP will show you as being in Mongolia.
Should my roommate make an SBR account?

#39Let's say I write Lou and tell him I have 5 roommates that all want to join sbr. However, I actually don't have 5 roommates as I'm living on my own. Well because I now have 6 accounts I will receive points for all of them, subsequently earning 5x more points.Comment -

But going Pro on each and not transferring points to one account, will show the accounts are not scamming.
There has to be ways, but its easier to just not allow it. As there are more scammers then legit roommates.Comment -

Do you personally know Leafy's roommate? No.
Do you know with 100% confidence Leafy has a roommate? No.
Does SBR know the answer to the first two questions? No.
Think of it this way. SBR makes money because of advertising/promotions. If Leafy were to have 2 accounts, there is still only 1 person seeing the advertising/promos. If I were to have 10 'roommates' and 11 sbr accounts I could bring in 132 points per day (assuming I could get accounts with various ids). But still, only I am seeing the adverts/promos.
Does this make more sense?
I'm not saying that Leafy is lying or anything. It's just people do lie and will try to take advantage of free stuff.Comment -

Like I said, there are more scammers then legit roommates. So it is just easier to rule against it entirely.
Pro verification would probably show it is two different people.Comment -

#49I think because this whole Pro thing happened after you worked here, you still believe in the purity of people. Maybe a bit at least? I can verify 2 Pros tomorrow - that's the problem and why we're so hardcore with everything else. I promise you, the scams tried constantly would blow your mind. As much as I love nailing people because I know it helps all of us honest guys still enjoy the points program, it's seriously affected what I think of people as a whole now. Maybe John will post a "best scams of 2011/12" at the Bash and take bets. I guarantee most wouldn't even guess the real one. Some people are absolute nutters.
Does that mean they produce alot of semen?Comment -

#50Only when they see ngates plie and twirl. I know they normally have to pay for it but I saw your ad for the free Burlesque days at the local Tuck and Tug so I assume that discount applies to SBR posters?

#59So when I register accounts for my 2yo son, my 80yo neighbour and the Elmo doll I'm looking at so they can all earn points that's cool? You do realise this is a business right? In an industry that people try to take shots at constantly, usually because they're so broke they can't even afford half a pack of Ramen but once in awhile because they're just wankers? Multi account = gone. If SBR allowed that, those price increases people have been complaining about would increase exponentially. Actually, I don't even think the Store would exist to be honest if you knew how many tried to scam every day. Bye SBR Bash. Bye contests. Bye everything really. I never would've imagined how many potential scammers there are out there until I started to work here... sadly the number is disgustingly high. That's why those who do what they can to alert us to them are beyond valuable.Comment -

#61Yes, in the gambling industry they do. What part of that statement surprises you? If books lost long term, they wouldn't exist. Nor would the hotels in Vegas, Macau, Melbourne, Reno, everywhere in the world actually. Gambling - sportsbetting - is a losing proposition for 99.99999999999% of us. Instead you have threads here about guys down to their last few bucks asking for help. You might want to step back - or post under your original account - if you want to slam anyone. Very few of us are winning gamblers long term... maybe we get a big win once in awhile but unless you start applying some math and bonus exploiting, gl. Of course though, you can explain it all? I'm sure you're the exception of course though.Comment -
