Just don't get why people take a team on the spread at halftime after they looked horrible in the first half. Some poster earlier today said they are taking the Browns in the 2nd half. They looked horrible in the first half and he went on to lose his 2nd half wager.

Bears get the ball first but i took the Colts(-0.5) -115 3rd quarter for a small bit. Got Bears(+10) -110 for the 2nd half big.

This theory actually worked with amazing consistency during the NCAAB and NBA seasons, taking heavy favorites ATS that were down at halftime. Although, it generally had to do with poor shooting percentages or turnovers in the first half. It could translate over possibly to NFL especially with a well-coached team that makes the proper halftime adjustments and there is a fairly decent talent disparity between the two teams. It also presents a good middling opportunity, for those perhaps wishing to hedge off some of their original bet on the dog for a shot at additional gains.

If you want to estimate the fair second half line, use the first half line.

I think Indy was about -5 in h1. -10 is just silly. I could lose the bet, but I'll make that play all day, and count my wins at the end of each year.

Edit - use that idea when playing an underdog that is winning. It only works IF the second half points are meaningful to the outcome of the game. 10 points changes the winner, 7 does not.

Conversion charts that bookmakers use assume the winning team will take a nap its last possesion. That's worth 1.5 - 2 points. The public loves the favorites. In this game, you have the public lined up with the inaccurate conversion charts. Sharp play is on the Bears at +8.5 or higher.

Yeah, Browns looked terrible only giving up 7 pts in the entire 2nd half.

Only reason they didn't cover was Romeo failed his math class.
